Return of the Shadow Assassin

A mysterious string of murders opens a lot of questions for Nicky Elder, the autopsies show that the victims were scared to death. Peter is determined to find out who is behind it. Kermit discovers the common link is that Peter knew all the victims. Peter finds out the Shadow Assassin has returned and brought a protégé, who is actually doing the killing. The Shadow Assassin wants to lure Caine, who has been gone for six months, back to town so he can destroy him.

Caine wants to learn more about his son by spending the day with Peter while he is at work. Caine learns a lot of things about Peter. Despite the fact that Peter asks his father to only be an observer, his father can’t seem to stay out of trouble. Caine is taken hostage and has to drive the getaway car, he assists Peter overcome two jewel thieves, and last but not least Caine prevents a young woman from committing suicide.

Dragon's Daughter

The police is baffled when several young men are found murdered. Caine knows who the murderer is. It is Xia who is the daughter of Caine’s archenemy, Tan. Xia seeks revenge because her father died during a fight with Caine and she decides to draw Caine out by committing murders until Caine meets her challenge. Peter wants to lure her out by pretending to be an easy target for Xia. He asks the Ancient for help so he can be irresistible for women. Lo Si gives Peter some ‘ancient love drops,’. They have the desired effect on all the woman except on Xia. Xia does come onto Peter at the bar, but that is cause she wants to get to Caine through Peter.

An ancient Lottery

First aired: 02/14/1994 USA

A building contractor hands out lottery tickets to the community. Lo Si also gets one of these tickets and ends up winning the $38 million prize. Naturally, everyone wants a piece of the fortune and people in the community start to line up to talk to the Ancient to tell him of their needs. The contractor wants to claim the ticket for himself, but Peter takes the ticket for safe keeping. The ticket later gets stolen from Peter, while he is distracted during a bar fight. Peter goes after the ticket and gives it back to the ancient.

Amanda Tapping, Cpt. Sam Carter from Stargate SGI, can be seen in a guestrole as the witness.

Laurie's Friend

First aired: 02/21/1994 USA

Peter participates in a stakeout against the mobster Reston, but a fellow officer gets shot. Peter goes after Reston and he’s arrested, but they can’t find the gun. Since Peter didn’t witness the deed and Reston doesn’t carry the gun when he is arrested, the suspect has to be set free. Skalany gives Peter a tip: Laurie, a young girl, has psychic powers. When Peter asks his father for help it doesn’t take Caine long to activate her abilities so that she can give a valuable hint about the whereabouts of the gun. But this isn’t a secret for long.

Temple

First aired: 02/28/1994 USA

Caine and Peter make a journey to their past. They visit the destroyed temple, in which Peter spent his childhood. In Braniff, they meet Vance Cavanaugh and his companions, who still hate the Shaolin and already tried to drive away the priests in the past. They also get to know Rachel Lowry, whose late husband was a Shaolin priest in Caine’s temple and who is now harrassed by Cavanaugh. Cavanaugh, mortified in the past by Caine, wants to seek revenge now. It doesn’t matter to him what extremes he has to take. After battering Peter in a pub he kidnaps Rachel and hopes to lure Caine into a trap.

Only the Strong survive

Peter has only a few hours to find a kidnapped girl, because her parents can’t afford to pay the demanded ransom. Finally, he gets a promising lead to Kinasay, an organizer for a material arts contests. Peter signs up as a participant to learn more about Kinasays organization. He’s backed up by his new partner, Jody Powell, who is the sister of his murdered friend Kira Blakemoore. What Peter doesn’t know is that his father and Kinasay met in the past and Kinasay recognizes Peter’s fighting style.

Out of the Woods

Peter and his father want to spend some time together and go on a weekend fishing trip. Unfortunately, their peaceful weekend is interrupted when they meet up with a group of lost hikers and the Siebert family. The sons just forcibly freed their imprisoned father and now hide in the woods. When the Caines meet a group of lost wanderers, and help them to find shelter they meet the Sieberts. One of the brothers recognizes Peter as a cop. To bar any risk they decide to kill the detective and his companions.

Tournament

First aired: 04/18/1994

Once again Caine meets a renegade Shaolin priest. This time it’s Li Sung, who organizes Kung-Fu tournaments on an island in Canada. Caine also gets an invitation. Coincidentally, the police investigates against Li Sung, who is also well known as a drug lord, and Strenlich sends Peter undercover to the tournament. Peter impersonates a mercenary and wins his first fight in the tournament whereupon Li Sung wants to hire him. Meanwhile, Caine meets his old love Serena and her daughter Maya during the tournament. To get back at Caine, Li Sung had lured her away from the Shaolin years before Peter was born. It doesn’t take much for Caine to convince Serena and her daughter to leave Li Sung. But the gangster tries to forestall this by all means.

Peter tries to save his friend Donald, who was kidnapped. But he is too late and has to watch Donald get killed. Peter goes after the killer. During the chase, the shooter throws Peter over a stair railing and Peter lands several stories down to the ground. With serious head injuries, Peter is taken to the hospital and falls into a deep coma. He is in his Bardo now, a world between life and death. So to free his son from this world Caine has to travel into Peter’s mind. But should Peter die during this time, Caine wouldn’t survive either too. Meanwhile, the killer found out that Peter survived the fall and tries to kill him in the hospital.

The Possessed

Shortly after a priest comes back seriously ill from a mission in China, one of his brothers, Father Robel, dies under mysterious circumstances. The police is in the dark. The complete affair gets even more mysterious when Lawrence, a young man, who withdraws into himself due to the trauma from the death of his parents, appears. Caine realizes that Lawrence is possessed by an evil spirit, which caused the death of Father Robel. With the help of Lawrence’s sister, Helen, Caine tries to free him from this possession.

The Warlord

Decades ago, Caine’s father saved the life of a critically ill friend of General Jiang-Shu. Now the General believes that Caine also has this healing power. To let Caine heal his deathly sick father, the arrogant man arrives from China ad hoc. One of his first acts is to beat Chief Strenlich so badly that he is in need of hospital treatment, but the police can’t charge him. Caine doesn’t agree with Jiang-Shu’s methods but he also can’t refuse the General’s request to help his father. Caine knows it is too late to save the old man, but Jiang-Shu disawowes Caine’s judgement and threatenes to kill Caine should his father die.

Caine is called up to be a juror in a murder trial. A successful businessman was killed and a previously convicted criminal was arrested when he tried to sell the victim’s credit card to a dealer. The jury votes, Caine is the lone holdout. He is not convinced the accused is guilty. Though he isn’t allowed to get into contact with the outside world, Caine finds a way to talk to Peter. With Caine’s information, Peter is finally able to find the real murderer.

Magic Trick

A killing spree of young women keeps the town in suspense. A set of handcuffs found on the latest victim leads Peter to investigate the exclusive “Magic Club.” The current star is an illusionist named “Diablo.” Apparently Diablo uses hypnosis to bend the women’s will, letting him get their fortunes then he kills them. Only Caine and his “white” magic can finally end the killings.

Aspects of the Soul

First aired: 10/10/1994 USA

Two rivaling Tong gangs are in war in Chinatown. Peter Caine is supposed to investigate the incidents, but he can’t get access to the closed groups of Chinatown. When Peter’s old enemy Clarence Choi gets permission to attend the funeral of his uncle, Peter asks to accompany the prisoner. The alleged funeral turns out to be a gang meeting. Clarence, who already tried to kill Peter in the past, can escape with the help of his friends. It turns out that Clarence tries to gain leadership over the Tongs, so he can control Chinatown. Peter’s only chance to prevent the worst is to challenge Choi, who has become very adept in martial arts.

The Australian tennis player Trish, a friend of Peter, participates in a tournament in the USA. There she becomes the target of an aboriginal assassin and nearly dies due to the curse. Peter finds out, that Trish’s uncle, Ken, is responsible for the wrath of the aboriginies. Ken wants to erect a mine on the cemetery of the aborigine’s ancestors. And this is an affront against their religion. Caine tries to interfere, but he can’t know that the chief pursues his own selfish interests.

The Gang of Three

Because there are more and more raids in Chinatown and the police seem to be powerless, three civilians decide to take matters into their own hands and become vigilantes. They manage to catch the leader of the gang and Peter thanks them for taking an active role rather then just being bystander. Nan, the daughter of one of the men believes the actions of her father are too dangerous. As it turns out she is not wrong.

Sunday at the Museum with George

First aired: 10/31/1994 USA

Peter is in charge of security in a museum which exhibits a sarcophagus with the corpse of the emperior and warlord Chen Chang Kung in it, who passed away 400 years ago. The detective doesn’t believe his eyes when he sees George in the museum, the villain who disturbed the wedding ceremony of his sister Carolyn. He loses track of the man and thinks at first to have erred. George disguises himself as an archaeologist named George Vladpallin, who ostensibly is involved in preparing his antiques exposition. But of course, this is just a pretense, in truth he is zeroed in the emperior’s treasures. He is not only thwarted by Caine but by the late emperor’s powers.

Dragonswing 2

Caine is kidnapped by Chinese rebels and brought to the Dalai Lama who was also kidnapped by the rebels. Thereupon Peter once again calls the already battle tested “Dragonswing” together. The kidnapper demands the Dalai Lama to hand over an antique scroll, which is supposed to give them great power over the Chinese population. Peter is able to blow the cover of one of the accomplices and forces him to tell him the whereabouts of his Pop and the Dalai Lama. The rescue mission finally brings the mixed group to a chalet in Switzerland.

Sing Wah

David Gilberto studies old dialects in an archeological research laboratory and makes a surprising discovery: a secret document of the “Sing Wah”. “Sing Wah” stands for the contrary of the Shaolin-philosophy: namely violence and power. When all of sudden a hand comes out of a wall, David barely escapes with his life. David contacts his wife to tell her to find Caine and warn him about the “Sing Wah”. Not only David but an old girlfriend of Peter’s is also in danger.

Enter the Tiger


Peter and Caine try to help a Chinese student activist, Johnny Quan. To bring down the Chinese government Quan needs the support of twelve of the most powerful Chinese, who are living overseas. But Bon Bon Hai, the most important of these men and father of Quan’s old flame, refuses to help. When Caine interferes and tries to change Bon Bon Hai’s mind, the gangster doesn’t hesitate to use his daughter as a leverage.

Retribution

For the first time, Caine is invited for dinner at the Blaisdell’s home. The comfortable get-together is abruptly disturbed when Paul gets a blackmail call and suddenly the family is shot at. Luckily, noone is hurt. Paul’s past finally catches up with him and now his family is in danger. Somebody tries to blame Paul for murdering a Senator and uses Peter as a witness. Peter can’t believe that his foster father would kill someone in cold blood, but when Paul attacks him when Peter confronts him and flees afterwards, Peter’s world breaks apart. In order to save his family, Paul asks Caine for help. Caine has to go back in time 10 years ago, when Paul still worked as a mercenary.
